June, 2019. Foster and his son, Marshall, help a friend, Chris Egghart, catch his first sailfish. After Chris' reel locked up, Foster and his son teamed up, cut the line and successfully re-tied it to a new spool -while still keeping the fish on -allowing for this great shot. Now that's fishing.

Captain Ernal Foster
In 1937, Buddy's Uncle Ernal started the first charter boat, The Albatross I, and is also credited with being a founder of the sport fishing industry in North Carolina.
Desmond Foster, Sr.
As the only boat mechanic on the Island in the late 1960's, Buddy's father, Desmond, Sr., spent his career repairing boats and had the first full-service boat yard in Hatteras.
